Community Giving
Home / Community Giving
Giving back to the families in its community has been part of Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park’s philosophy since Steve and Jeanne Beckley opened the caves to the public in 1999. The park supports nearly 300 organizations and events each year through the donation of passes for fundraising.
“We would also like to thank our customers and our community, their support over the years has been remarkable, and they are the driving force behind everything we do.” ~Steve Beckley
Music on the Mountain
Back in 2008 and with its mission to make people smile, the mountaintop theme park launched Music on the Mountain summer concert series. Initially the park created “Tram for a Can” where guests would bring a can of non-perishable food in exchange for a tram ride to the top of the mountain. By 2011, the total number of cans donated was slightly more than 7,600. Eventually the food collection for our local food pantry, Lift Up, turned into the now $5 event fee for our Music on the Mountain summer series. All proceeds collected through the event fee are given directly to a selected non-profit organization.
Gondola Giving
What was once known as the Turkey Tram-a-ganza, a beloved annual tradition that began in 2014, has since evolved into the Gondola Giving event. In the early days, the local community would eagerly participate by donating a single frozen turkey, which would then entitle them to four complimentary tram tickets to be used on the mountain during the Winter on the Mountain season. As time passed, the logistics of storing and distributing the turkeys became increasingly challenging for Lift Up. Recognizing the need to adapt and continue their mission of giving back, the park made the strategic decision to transition the program to a more streamlined and sustainable model.
In 2018, the Gondola Giving event was born, allowing participants to contribute $25 gift cards in lieu of physical turkeys. These City Market gift cards are then used to provide underprivileged families and individuals with some holiday cheer and the ability to buy groceries. The Gondola Giving collection continues during the Thanksgiving holiday and each $25 gift card receives 4 Gondola tickets to use during Winter on the Mountain.
Charitable Online Donation
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a proud partner of YouthZone’s programs that address diverse facets of young lives in the Roaring Fork Valley. With each online purchase on either Glenwood Cavern’s or Iron Mountain Hot Springs’ websites, guests are given the opportunity to donate to our local youth non-profit organization, YouthZone. Supporting youth from Aspen to Parachute, they provide comprehensive assessment and advocacy to inspire healthy relationships between youth, families, and communities. YouthZone empowers parents through counseling or providing scholarship to those who cannot afford crucial services and are continuously expanding their means of support to cover all aspects of youth development.
If you are requesting an in-kind donation for a Silent Auction, please email [email protected] or [email protected].
Sponsorship Requests
In an effort to manage a high number of requests from our local non-profits, we implemented a new application process to incorporate a fair and impartial system to best serve our community.
To apply for a sponsorship, please fill out our online sponsorship application. The form will be sent to [email protected]. You can use one application if you are requesting support from both of our companies.
After this application is received, we will review and assess how your event and sponsorship request fits into our company culture and sponsorship budget. Review and selections dates will occur in the months of April, July, October and January. We will notify the sponsorship coordinator by email with our decision. If approved, the required marketing materials and/or check will be prepared, and we will schedule deliverables with the sponsorship coordinator.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate verification of nonprofit status including 501(c3). Due to the number of submissions we receive, it is not possible to satisfy every request. Priority consideration will be given to organizations that have not received another sponsorship or donation within the calendar year. Past support for an organization does not guarantee future support.
