Live Music: John Riger
John Paul Riger started playing piano at the age of four. He watched his dad play the piano nightly at home and then he’d take his turn at the keys when dad was done! John’s played piano virtually his entire life. He began playing professionally at the age of fourteen and has been playing in bands, combos and as a soloist ever since. On any given night as a soloist John covers classical, ragtime, Gershwin, jazz, R&B, Motown, world, bossa nova, bee bop, pop, swing, ballads, Christmas music and loads of original compositions. John feels that his musical education has been largely a self-taught process but he also gives great credit the plethora of amazing musicians with whom he’s performed professionally over the past five decades.
