Scenic Evening Tram Ride
Ride the scenic tram with stunning views of the lights and valley below. Hop on the Iron Mountain Tramway and you will be carried from the floor of the Roaring Fork Valley to the Adventure Park located at the top of Iron Mountain.
During your nighttime ride up the mountain you will gaze out at the lights of Glenwood Springs and the surrounding valley below you.
When you arrive at the Park at the top of the mountain in the evening, you will get to see 35 miles of light strings, one of the largest displays in Western Colorado!
Light Up Winter!
Enjoy 500,000 lights adorning the park, one of the largest holiday light displays in Western Colorado! 500,000 lights is approximately 35 miles of light strings.
Also, for the first time both the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride and the Alpine Coaster will be lighted for evening rides.
And there is holiday lighting inside the King’s Row cave section, making the tour even more colorful.
Learn more about the challenges associated with lighting up the mountain and meet the Cavern’s lighting director at Light It Up! in our blog.
Our YouTube video (only 41 seconds long) features highlights of the Winter on the Mountain experience.
It includes video of the lighting displays, lighted thrill rides, a very large Christmas tree with the lights changing to the music, Santa and Mrs. Claus and more!
Musical Christmas Tree
Visitors to the Park will enjoy an animated Musical Christmas Tree, center-staged at the Park Plaza, enchanting children of all ages with its musical light show.
The tree will “perform” every half hour beginning at 6 pm, and the last performance will be at 8:30 pm.
And you can also enjoy performances by caroling groups who are visiting throughout the holiday season.
Lighted Evening Rides
Lighted Alpine Coaster tracks and a lighted Zip Ride add a new dimension to these winter rides.
Experience the thrill of racing down the mountain during the day, or for added excitement, after sunset!
We’re delighted that many riders are telling us that riding the Alpine Coaster at night is even more fun than riding it in the daytime.
One four-year old child insisted her family take her on four trips down the lighted coaster run at night. She loved it so much she wanted to go even more!
Winter Wipeout in the 4D Theater
Get ready for the winter ride of your life when Winter Wipeout begins playing in the 4D Movie Theater on November 13.
Follow two jolly snowmen on their adventures, as they careen down the mountain on their snow-tubes. But watch out for the penguins and the giant Yeti along the way! It’s a very fast bumpy ride and tons of good old-fashioned winter fun!
Winter Wipeout will be one of four 4D movies playing in the theater, as Bamboo Express, Pirates Rapids and Rats Race will also be showing.

Fire Pits and Warming Hut
Fire Pits in the plaza will be great places to gather and roast s’mores! The Fire Pits will start running sometime in mid-November, and s’more kits will be available to purchase all day.
