Your ride to Adventure
The Glenwood Gondola replaced the former Iron Mountain Tramway and had it’s first rider on March 16, 2019.
The gondola transports guests from the valley floor to the mountaintop theme park entrance. Back when Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park only offered guests cave tours, buses used to transport guests up and down the mountain. The grand opening of the Iron Mountain Tramway was in the spring of 2003, and the Glenwood Gondola now continues its legacy of making people smile on their way up to the only mountaintop amusement park in America.
Visitors experience a towering panoramic view of the spectacular Rocky Mountain scenery as they skim over the tops of the trees, up to the top of Iron Mountain and the entrance to Glenwood Caverns and Historic Fairy Caves.
Visitors of all ages enjoy the 5-minute scenic ride inside six-person, fully-enclosed gondolas with large clear windows. The gondolas are wheelchair-accessible, including motorized wheelchairs.
After visitors unload the gondolas, they can take a cave tour, eat at the mountaintop restaurant, Lookout Grille, try exciting thrill rides, or simply enjoy the expansive views.
WEATHER POLICY
The weather in the Rocky Mountains can change quickly. In the spring and summer months it is not uncommon to experience thunderstorms which brings wind and lightning. If we experience high wind or lightning in close proximity, the gondola will slow down and sometimes stop. We may also close the gondola for a period of time until the weather passes; typically, these storms move through in 45 to 90 minutes. Rain checks will be issued if all the rides are closed for more than 60 continuous minutes due to weather. Please plan accordingly for these delays as there is no alternative means of transportation. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.
