I-70 through Glenwood Canyon may occasionally close due to mudslides, or as a safety precaution if there is rain in the forecast. If this happens, there are alternative routes to get to Glenwood Springs recommended by CDOT to avoid potential closures.
- If traveling to or from Denver, and there is an I-70 closure, it is advised by the Colorado Department of Transportation to take the northern alternate route through Steamboat Springs.
