Rides: Thrill-Seekers Delight
Defiance Roller Coaster
Standing alone among coasters—a vertical scream machine—Defiance holds the title for the highest looping roller coaster in the U.S. In just under a minute this baddie takes you on a journey that challenges the very laws of physics. Brace yourself for a record-breaking 102.3-degree freefall—the steepest in the Western U.S. As you soar through a 98-foot twisted top hat switch, a 111-foot banana roll, and a 41-foot zero-G heartline roll, you’ll experience two thrilling inversions and speeds up to 56 mph. To say this ride is intense is an understatement.
Giant Canyon Swing
A hydraulic pendulum, the Giant Canyon Swing launches brave souls 1,300 feet out and over Glenwood Canyon. Tracing an arc back and forth over the edge of Glenwood Canyon, this mechanical beast imparts a feeling of stomach-lurching weightlessness. With your feet dangling and your heart in your throat, this ride is a scream from start to finish. Ride it multiple times, alternating sitting on opposite sides—for drop-away views of the canyon below and wide-open skies above!
Cliffhanger Roller Coaster
Hang on tight or fling your arms over your head if you dare, the Cliffhanger delivers high-speed acceleration with hairpin curves, sudden drops, and mountain views that fly by in the blink of an eye. One second you’re soaring through the stratosphere; the next, you’re clinging to the edge of your seat as your car navigates curves cantilevered over a cliff!
Alpine Coaster & Canyon Flyer
Need to build up some courage? Start out with these two exhilarating rides. The Alpine Coaster is a hands-down favorite of park visitors. It lets you control your speed as you zoom down the hillside. You still go “over the edge” as the track follows the pitch of Iron Mountain. It’s a superb mix of fun and fright. While the Canyon Flyer seems like a gentle high-flying spin ride, don’t be deceived. The moment it flings you over the edge, we guarantee your heart will skip a beat.
Caves: Beauty That Pushes the Boundaries
Going over the edge doesn’t always have to feel scary, it can also mean stepping into awe. Glenwood Caverns’ two cave tours—King’s Row and the Historic Fairy Caves—take you on a guided expedition deep beneath the mountain where stunning formations including stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, and cave bacon create an otherworldly underground landscape.
The Fairy Caves Tour is steeped in history and takes visitors on a stroll down memory lane. It also includes stunning sights including an underground reflecting pool and a stop at Exclamation Point for drop-away views of Glenwood Canyon. The King’s Row Tour is a breathtaking showcase of pristine cave formations. The Barn, for instance, is among the largest cave rooms in the state while King’s Row is one of the most highly “decorated” in Colorado. Both cave tours are dazzling and take visitors to the brink of natural wonder. With an all-inclusive Fun Day Ticket, you can enjoy cave tours and all the rides.
New: Little Feet Playground
Even the smallest thrill-seekers deserve a chance to go over the edge—in their own way! The Park’s new Little Feet Playground is ideal for young explorers. Kids will have a blast safely testing the limits of balance and agility with engaging fun features like climbing rocks, crawl-through logs, balance logs, and interactive play areas. This new kid-friendly zone is sure to keep the tiniest tikes smiling.
Dining: Best Views in Town
After screaming, soaring, and spelunking, you’ll want to take a pitstop to refuel—and Glenwood Caverns delivers dining venues that combine satisfying food with stunning vistas. Grab a bite at the Lookout Grille, where the patio offers jaw-dropping panoramas of snowcapped Mt. Sopris, the Roaring Fork Valley, and the Colorado River. With additional outdoor seating, the Smokehouse Grill is another place for peak eats, especially mouthwatering BBQ and refreshing drinks.
