Dress for Adventure
Colorado’s spring and summer weather can be as unpredictable as a roller coaster! It’s best to come prepared. Key to any great outdoor adventure, appropriate clothing is essential! Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are what we recommend—the footwear of choice, they’ll make walking through the Park, navigating the steps on cave tours, and even riding the thrill rides more comfortable.
Layers are also your best friend: mornings can be cool and afternoons warm, a light jacket or hoodie is always a smart addition, plus at a year-round temperature of 52˚F, the caves can be chilly even on the hottest summer day.
Just as you would carry water along on a hike, bring a water bottle and refill it throughout the day at the Park’s hydration stations or purchase water and hydrating drinks from the General Store. You can stash them in cubbies before embarking on rides or stow them in lockers are available for rent.
Be Weather Wise
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park sits at over 7,000 feet above sea level, meaning the sun is intense and the weather can change quickly. At this elevation, sun protection is essential—wear sunglasses and hats when outdoors at the Park. Take advantage of the free sunscreen station at the Guest Services gazebo in the Main Plaza to keep everyone sun-safe throughout the day.
Spring and summer thunderstorms are common in the mountains but are usually short-lived. High-country storms typically pass within 60 minutes or so. Before you finish those nachos or icees, you and your crew will be back to riding the Alpine Coaster in no time!
