Glenwood Gondola: No Skis Required

Go to great heights without all the gear. Even if you don’t ski or snowboard, you can ride Glenwood Gondola at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park for a mountain of fun on spring break! And if you do, take some time away from the chairlift for a vacay day at America’s only mountaintop theme park.

No skis, no board, no problem! Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park offers a thrilling alternative to the slopes. Though skiing and snowboarding go boot-in-binding with what most people think of as a Colorado spring break, slope-side sports aren’t the only exhilarating form of recreation in Glenwood Springs.

Ride the Lift Up

Ride Glenwood Gondola for amazing viewsIf you’ve never visited Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, you might be surprised to learn that one of the first people you’ll meet on arrival is a lift operator. That’s right, just like at a ski area, our lifties will help you board the Glenwood Gondola. The gondola is made by Poma, a company that began in the French Alps in 1936. The earliest versions paved the way for lifts that made steep mountainous terrain accessible at ski resorts in Europe and the U.S. However, unlike riding the lift at the slopes, you don’t need to haul your gear aboard, just get comfy in the cabin and enjoy the views of Glenwood Springs unfold below as you ascend Iron Mountain to the park entrance.

Peak Ski-Free Fun

When you debark, there’s no slipping and sliding around in the snow. Glenwood Gondola slows to a near stop for an easy transition from the gondola cabin floor to a snow-free concrete walkway. But just like at the ski area, the real excitement begins once you get moving.

As you enter the Main Plaza at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, take a minute to get oriented. Check our “trail maps,” the large signs that show where all the park’s rides, attractions, restrooms, and dining options are located. To ensure you hit all the sites and attractions, make a plan to navigate the park. If you have questions, ask the Adventure Park Ambassador, located at the Guest Services Gazebo.
