Go to great heights without all the gear. Even if you don’t ski or snowboard, plan a trip to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park for a mountain of fun this winter! And if you do ski, set aside the sticks for a vacay day at America’s only mountain-top theme park.
Slope-side sports aren’t the only exhilarating form of winter recreation in Glenwood Springs. No skis, no board, no problem! Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park offers a thrilling winter alternative for non-skiers.
Ride the Lift Up
If you’ve never visited Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, you might be surprised to learn that one of the first people you’ll meet on arrival is a lift operator. That’s right, just like at a ski area, our lifties will help you board the Glenwood Gondola. The gondola is made by Poma, a company that began in the French Alps in 1936. The earliest versions paved the way for lifts that made steep mountainous terrain accessible at ski resorts in Europe and the U.S. However, unlike riding the lift at the slopes, you don’t need to haul your gear aboard, just get comfy in the cabin and enjoy the views of Glenwood Springs as you ascend Iron Mountain to the park entrance.
Peak Ski-Free Fun
When you debark, there’s no slipping and sliding around in the snow. Glenwood Gondola slows to a near stop for an easy transition from the gondola cabin floor to a snow-free concrete walkway. But just like at the ski area, the real excitement begins once you get moving.
As you enter the Main Plaza, take a minute to get oriented and make a plan to navigate the park. Check our “trail maps,” the large signs that show where rides, attractions, restrooms and dining venues are located. If you have questions, visit the Guest Services gazebo.
Adventure Park Tickets
Just as ski resorts have their signature runs, bowls and glades, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park has its’ can’t-miss experiences. The park is internationally famous for its stunning caverns and fast-track winter thrill ride. To make the most of your time, Winter Funday tickets are the best value with admission to both cave tours and unlimited access to the Alpine Coaster, laser tag and 4-D theater. Admission also gives access to regular music events such as Friday Afternoon Club, as well as special events like our upcoming Fire and Ice Festival. There are Gondola-only tickets and Gondola & Caves tickets for those who have less time to explore.
Off the Beaten Path
Backcountry skiing and riding are sought-after experiences. These activities are often guided and always memorable. At Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, go off-piste on our cave tours. The King’s Row cave tour boasts the second largest cave room in Colorado and the Historic Fairy Caves tour features a reflecting pool and an overlook with views of Glenwood Canyon. Guests rave about the variety and abundance of cave formations, gorgeous lighting that shows them off to advantage, and knowledgeable guides who educate and entertain along the way.
