Winter on the Mountain 2025 brings a brilliant new spectrum of spectacular to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, America’s only mountaintop theme park.
From the grand kickoff party on Nov. 22, to the final light show on Jan. 4, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a glowing beacon of holiday joy and wonder. This year’s Winter on the Mountain celebration is bigger, brighter, and more kinetic than ever, featuring all-new dynamic light shows—mesmerizing light and sound experiences that move to the rhythm of the season.
Holiday Lights in Motion
While ski lifts across Colorado may power down at 4 p.m., the gondola at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park keeps rolling long into the night. After the sun dips behind the snowcapped peaks, the signature orange cabins whisk visitors skyward to the park entrance, where light and motion magically merge.
This year’s Winter on the Mountain features a completely reimagined, larger-than-life projected lighting experience set to music. Imagine listening to the symphonic rock of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, complete with electric guitars, pounding drums, sweeping strings, and grand piano melodies that dramatically meld God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Carol of the Bells. As the music reverberates in the Park’s Main Plaza, a gargantuan cascade of stars, snowflakes, colors, and shapes seems to burst forth from the darkness! Powerful, magical, mesmerizing—and that’s just one show!
Catch all four light shows at Winter on the Mountain, starting every 30 minutes from 5 to 7:30 p.m. near the Smokehouse in the Main Plaza.
A Night of Fire & Light
Winter on the Mountain officially kicks off on Saturday, Nov. 22, with a night of fire and light! In addition to the kinetic light shows, fire dancing performances ignite an extra spark and dazzle to the evening. Performing at 6 p.m., and again at 7 p.m., talented “fire dancers” keep audiences spellbound with choreography that includes flames!
Between shows, warm up by the outdoor fire pits in the Main Plaza. Stop in at the Lookout Grille to purchase s’more packets for roasting and to order a round of scrumptious drink specials sure to warm up you and your friends from the inside out.
The kick-off celebration also includes live holiday music by Mountain Harmony, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., performing in the Plaza Garden. A local musical treasure, the group features strong vocals, fun melodies, and a repertoire of tunes that set the tone for an evening of holiday revelry.
Santa, the Grinch & Free Gondola Rides
What’s a holiday celebration without a visit from Jolly Old St. Nick? Santa makes special appearances at the North Pole (aka the Rock Shop), from 4 to 7 p.m. on the following Saturdays: Nov. 22, Nov. 29, Dec. 6, Dec. 13, and Dec. 20. Keep an eye out for a certain green Grinch who might just make a surprise cameo!
Families will be especially merry to learn that children 12 and under ride the gondola for free after 4 p.m. when they mention they’re heading up to see Santa.
High Spirits & Live Music
Every Friday night during Winter on the Mountain, locals and visitors alike raise a toast to the weekend with Friday Afternoon Club in the Winter Garden from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Enjoy great live bands like Feeding Giants, James Freeborn, The Aries Approach, Jason Abbott, and Children of the Corn Liquor, along with food and drink specials that’ll keep your spirits bright. Mention you’re going to Friday Afternoon Club at the base after 4 p.m. and enjoy a free gondola ride to the top! Cheers!
Merry and Bright Tunes
There’s no stopping a good party! The fun continues throughout December with live holiday music at the Lookout Grille from 5 to 8 p.m. Cozy up as talented local musicians, from Rodrigo to Wild Flight and The Colorado Currys, fill the night with song. Between the music, the drink specials, and the glow of the lights outside, it’s pure alpine enchantment.
A Winter Tradition Like No Other
With so much going on, don’t forget about the Park’s major attractions that go strong all year long. Take a ride on the Alpine Coaster, illuminated after dark, and also explore the magical underground landscape cave on guided cave tours.
Whether you come to see the all-new light shows, for the ongoing live entertainment and music, or to whisper your wishes to Santa himself, one thing is certain, Winter on the Mountain at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park will lift your spirits from now and well into the new year!
