Spring skiing is a family friendly activity in Glenwood SpringsSunny Sunlight!

Sunlight Mountain Resort is Glenwood’s hometown ski area and it’s open every day through March and into the first week of April for some of the best family-friendly spring skiing in Colorado. The area is a breath of fresh air with plenty of room to spread out on its 67 trails over 730 acres of terrain. Sunlight is known for its wide range of runs that include family pleasers such as Ute, which happens to also be one of the longest runs in the state to the experts-only steeps of the East Ridge. In the middle are a flurry of intermediate runs that feature groomed corduroy, bumps and tree skiing.

The Perfect Storm

While many spring days are sunny and warm, March is also one of the snowiest months of the year for Colorado resorts, including Sunlight. Spring storms tend to come fast and furious, blowing in from the west and south, leaving behind inches, if not feet, of fresh powder. Fortunately, storms dissipate just as quickly returning the skies to their famous Colorado-blue setting. Spring skiing is also a time of light-hearted antics. You’ll no doubt see people skiing in shorts, bikini tops and costumes! Spring is a great time of year to let your personality shine through, feel free to be silly!
