To say this pendulum thrill ride is an adrenaline rush is an understatement. It was named by USAToday as one of the most extreme rides in the United States!
According to the article, “The Giant Canyon Swing at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park moves four passengers back and forth, takes them nearly vertical at the height of each swinging arc, hits a top speed of 50 mph, and delivers potent, tummy-tickling, negative G-forces, all perched at the edge of a cliff on top of a mountain,” That cliff is 1,300 feet above the Colorado River.

So much fun This is such a unique and fun experience. The swing thing is terrifying but we did it 3 times. Highly recommended.

Take a gondola to the top of a mountainside. Grab a pound of fries and a souvenir cup of Sprite while staring at the view from the Lookout Grille. Wander around the General Store. Wander down the hill and check on cave tours. If you have time, go watch people SCREAM their heads off on the Giant Canyon Swing. See the Fairy Caves, preferably with adorable kids on the tour. More scared of the flyer while on it which was surprising. Then the haunted drop ride sealed the deal. So much fun if you love thrill rides. The coaster and zip were also very fun. I love amusement parks and this was a very cool experience on top of the mountain. Only did the fairy cave tour and was great. read lessLisa Brummett10/05/2020So I’ve wanted to go on the “Canyon Swing” ride ever since I happened to see a video of it years ago, and let me… read moreSo I’ve wanted to go on the “Canyon Swing” ride ever since I happened to see a video of it years ago, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! We paid $28 for the mountain coaster alone in Breckenridge. We got so much more for our money. This part of the state is warmer than where we stayed in Frisco. The view from the cafe was amazing, the canyon swing is not for the faint of heart. read less

My husband and I are both 52 and our daughters are 12 and 13 – we all had the best time! We rode the canyon swing 4 times – screaming in terror every time. So much fun! We went during Covid so we had a reserved entrance time and the park was limiting the number of guests so we never had a long wait on any ride. the longest we waited was about 30 mins for the fairy tour because those were being limited to groups of 15 or less. The alpine coaster and the rest – big time fun. People were wearing masks and there was hand sanitizer. Also, i was surprised that the snacks and food were reasonable for an amusement park. I would definitely do this again. well, maybe I would just recommend other people do it since I’m not sure i really could do it again! read less

The gondola ride to the top is a great, scenic introduction to the park (look for the birds of prey circling around you as you ascend!) Not a large quantity of rides, but what they have is exhilarating! A 120 ft. free fall drop down a mineshaft, a giant swing that propels you over the edge of a cliff and even the normally docile swing rides are breathtaking as you swing out over the edge of the canyon. Also, the cave tours are educational, amazing and great way to get out of the heat! read less

The activities kept us running in all directions as everyone seemed to have their own favorites to ride over and over. My personal favorite was the little yellow bobsled. The swing was a favorite of some that went out over the cliff (not of mine – not my thing, but I did it with one of the grands). COVID was certainly a nuisance, but it in now way hindered our fun. What a Great day we had. read less
